Forgot to say that there is already @\ for math, this is a bit

True. I probably should have called it @backslashchar{} then.
Maybe @\ could be obsoleted (that is no more documented) when
@backslashchar{} is implemented?
Hmm. I don't exactly see a win to undocumenting it.
