Follow-up Comment #3, bugs #12138 (project synaptic):
Version 0.55.3 does'nt SEGV anymore, but the GTK assertion still comes up.
It's recompiled from
ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/SuSE/9.2-i386/SRPMS.suser-rbos/synaptic-0.55.3-0.suse092.rb1.src.rpm
(SuSE 9.2 -> SuSE 9.1)
