hihi, all -
the review comments seem to be from somebody who does not really understand
what experiments are in these modeling application areas
as long as it is made clear that these terms are about the simulation program,
and not about some external (``real'') phenomena, then they are perfectly
legitimate measurements of its behavior, and all the usual experimental design
considerations apply
of course, you do have to make a separate argument that the simulation is a
sufficiently realistic description of the phenomena being modeled for the
experimental measurements being performed (``it matches the data'' isn't
usually good enough - after all, ptolemy's epicycles matched the available
planetary motion data much better than copernicus' model for many years, until
they started to use elliptical orbits instead of circular ones)
more later,
cal
