I'm afraid we don't really do anything for which VLSI design would be
useful here.   However, you may be able to help our gEDA project; see
http://www.geda.seul.org/.   On the other hand, the other volunteers
on the gEDA project are extremely unlikely to be able to pay you or
offer you a formal position.   If you're still interested though, go
talk to those guys; details are on their web page.  Unfortunately you
already missed the deadline for the Google Summer of Code.
