=================== BUG #4843: FULL BUG SNAPSHOT ===================

Category: None Severity: 3
Bug Group: None Resolution: None
Assigned to: None Status: Open
Summary: Follow action
Original Submission: The follow action is quite easy to break. Make a big
bunch of land units follow an air unit, and move the air unit to an unreachable
location (like on top of a body of water). Units will move to the shore. Then
move the air unit on ground again. you will see that the land unit's don't
properly align around it. It has to do with pathfinding. If you want to move
towards an unreachable position you have to increase RangeX and RangeY, so it
finds a reasonable place to move to. But what happens when it can go closer? It
won't go closer, unless you decrease the range.
So the idea seems to be to adjust the range all the time. This is bad,
since it causes a lot of stress on the pathfinder. Adding some sort of waiting
seems good. However, there is one problem, when waiting units don't animate.
I would really like some comments on this.
