Default LogPath Seems to be Broken

I have a couple of questions.
is e.g. -L <log-dir> command line option sufficient for you?
If you specify -L /var/log should spd create
/var/log/speech-dispatcher by default to store all log files there?
there are several log files associated with spd which depend on log-dir.
