This is unlikely, especially when Lukas says:

Lukas, could you please investigate the place where the problem occurs?
I suggest starting with setting LogLevel to 5 in speechd.conf and
looking for the place where the character gets non-valid in the Speech
Dispatcher log.  This can happen in SSIP communication between the
client and the server or in communication between the server and the
output module or it may not happen at all.

And if you can reproduce the problem using Python bindings it would help
to provide a simple Python program that demonstrates it.
