[Solang-users] Solang 0.2 install on eeeBuntu 3.0 (ubuntu9.04)

Hi 

I have just downloaded the tar ball for Solang 0.2 and installed it on
my netbook running eeeBuntu 3.0. I thought you might like to know how I
got on.

I am very interested in your project for the purposes of a small fast photo manager with basic editing abilities and IPTC EXIF XMP editing for photojournalism purposes. The best thing I used was Adobe Lightroom, however I have switched to Linux and it is Win/OSX only also it's too big for a netbook to handle easily. I am not a programmer or anything like that and the info I am about to provide may be of no use whatsoever to you but here it is.

Down loaded tar ball and extracted.

Note: all installs were done through Synaptic Package Manager and any associated files were also installed. Terminal commands in square brackets.

The file was found in /home/[usrename]/Solang-0.2/scr/applications

Solang opens and imports well. 

Bugs: 
It has imported the thumbnails created by digiKam as separate pictures.
Doesn't show large files in the editor using the editor tab but will using the "Ctrl+E" or "View-Edit" or "Edit Button" on main toolbar. 
When zoomed in to picture in "Editor" far enough to enable horizontal scrolling hand tool causes thumbnails to appear overlaid and they do not go away unless you return to thumbnails or reload image.
Does not return to browser properly from Editor. Thumbnails appear then reload but the main toolbar remains the edit toolbar.

This is all I found in the short time I played with it. I hope it is of some help to you and the project.

Some suggestions for the future: Easy edit IPTC XMP EXIF like Lightroom. Remember settings (full screen, thumbnail size, last position in file tree etc.) Also the all important uber cool image for a Panel Launcher.
