I fully agree.
I personally don't like Markdown, but that's totally ok and it's a good
first implementation choice. To serve my selfish interests, at some
point in the
far-away-future-with-flying-cars-when-i-have-free-time-on-a-rainy-day-with-nothing-to-do
I'll make the formatting system pluggable and use reST.
