On a different linux box I have this failure in building guile-reader 
cloned a few minutes ago:

The box on which guile-reader failed is a gentoo box with guile 1.8.8.  
The box on which it succeeded is a T2 box, but I don't have acces to it 
today to tell you the guile version.
