Details:

I want to test actual sources with different compilers to apply the anti
warning patches actually send to us.

I tried to set 
 CXX=..../g++
./configure ...

I wonder because the compiler was found and checked, but the result is, that
g++ was not found?!

Can anyone help with autotools here :-)
