The following had false-positives and were not pushed, I'll fix them soon:

 tests: test text normalization (\X sequences) - problem on FreeBSD 10.1.
 tests: test \dNNN \oNNN \xNN escape sequences - 'printf' problem on older 
OpenBSD/FreeBSD 
 compile-tests - failed on AIX (possibly 'test' shell built-in incorrectly 
returns OK for non-existing /dev/stderr).

Also one more test (follow-symlinks), but needs to be conditionally tested only 
if symlinks supported.

The last four patches are attached.
