I can't find the original message for this, so it probably was posted
while I lost my subscription, but the first thing that leaps to mind is
that you've got a clock, either in your screen hardstatus, or in the
program you're using, that updates its display.
Terminals that use shift-pgup for scrollback often leap back into place
as soon as there's any output to the terminal. Some terminals let you
configure that behavior, I think; for others, you have to ensure that
there's no output to the terminal. :)
