New window closes immediately in Screen

Hello,

Every once in a while Screen gets into a state where I am
not able to create a new window. The behavior is "ctrl-a c"
opens a new window for about 1 second, then immediately
closes it. I can't reproduce the problem, but wanted to
know if anyone was aware of this issue.

  $ screen --version
  Screen version 4.00.02 (FAU) 5-Dec-03
  $ uname -a
  SunOS ........... 5.10 Generic_125100-04 sun4v sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-T200
