Status line

hello,

thanks for adding vertical split stuff to screen, its very useful.  i'd like to
ask for an additional thing - is there some way how to remove the window
separator (something like "set caption never" ) ? this status line was
something natural for horizontal split, but its disturbing in the vertical
layout.

btw 'c-a |' is not displayed after 'c-a ?' or in man page.
