I-search not accepting <Enter>

Wouldn't it be nice to have I-search accept the current match when the
user hits <Enter>?  I find it counter-intuitive that <Esc> is the
character used for accepting a match.  But I'm guessing there's a reason
for this behavior.  Someone care to enlighten me?,
