No, that's not true. Setting $TERMCAP is a leftover from the
earliest versions. We just didn't dare to throw it out (yet).
Fortunatelly most software uses terminfo now anyways.
Btw, $TERMCAP contains screen's private sequences, not stuff
from the reattaching terminal.
