[screen-devel] [bug #43223] Patches for cross-compilation support

Follow-up Comment #1, bug #43223 (project screen):

As a followup after 4.3.1 release: this patchset still applies and works with
small changes (patch configure.ac instead of configure.in, disable one more
AC_TRY_RUN, etc). Thanks Maarten, your work saved quite a bit of time for me.

I'll try to attach the modified patches.
