Follow-up Comment #3, task #12585 (project administration):

You can enable and disable certain version control types in the Select
features

page.  On that page you can select “Git” and deselect “CVS”.  The
creation of repositories is managed via cron jobs, therefore it may take some
time before the repository is accessible.
