JackMaster"

Hi,

Sorry for the slow response.

>I'm moving because of the new censorship policy on sf.net (u know:
>cuba, iran....). Hope you make sure that free software remains free.

Of course!, that is our propose.

7z is free software itself, but it only runs in propiertary platforms,
so we can't use the program in a fully free enviroment.

I don't know of a free program for GNU/Linux capable of editing .7z
files, anyway if it exist is not widely widespread.

Please, if you are still interested in hosting the projct at savannah
compress it in some de facto standard format, like tar+gzip or
tar+bzip2 and attach it to the tracker
(https://savannah.gnu.org/task/?10138#attached) so we can continue
with the registration processes.

There is a free implementation of the LZMA compression algorithm
(http://tukaani.org/xz/), wich runs on GNU/Linux, but it uses it own
format (.lzma), incompatible with 7z, when project is approved you may
distribute it in this format if you want, should have about the same
compression quality and speed as 7z. However, I strongly encourage
you to keep both an gzip (Or bzip2) version of the tarball along with
a lzma one and let the user download what they want, this is because
the .lzma format is not as widespread as gzip or bzip2, and is not
installed by default by most GNU/Linux distributions.

If you are no longer interested in Savannah please let us know, we
won't bite and will make us gain time, you have 2 weeks to confirm,
else I will delete the submission.

Regards.
