==== Description: ====
Project: KDE Gradebook for teachers.
Programming Language: C++
Make Dependency: CMake
Dependencies: KDE 4.1 (www.kde.org), Qt 4.4 (www.qtsoftware.com).
Main Operating System: GNU/Linux
Other Operating Systems: All OS's supported by KDE version 4.1 and up.
Status: Beginning stages of development. Proofs of concept for Model/View
architecture that will be used for interacting with gradebook and most of user
interface has been laid out in Qt Designer.
Reasoning (what's special about it): As a teacher and free software advocate,
I have noticed that there are not any current gradebooks being developed that
are both feature rich and intuitive. I am currently using Tab Completion
Gradebook (http://tabgradebook.sourceforge.net/), and have tried the GNU
gradebook as well as others. My girlfriend and I made a web site
(gradeking.com) for the teachers at my school using Tab Completion Gradebook
as its official gradebook, but it was too difficult for some to use, and was
too limited for others. This gradebook will be a modern tool for teachers
that will allow teachers to choose the GNU/Linux Operating System as a viable
option in the near future. This is a GPLed project and will further the free
software movement in educational facilities.

==== Other Software Required: ====
KDE : LGPL : http://www.kde.org
Qt  : GPL  : http://www.qtsoftware.com
CMake: http://www.cmake.org/cmake/project/license.html : http://www.cmake.org
(note that this is just for automake)

==== Other Comments: ====
Executable file: kde_gradebook
Other file to view: centralwidgetui.ui (open in Qt Designer)
(this will give a very rough idea of what the first version will be like)
