If a new report describes an issue for which an older bug report already
exists on Savannah, we (the Octave maintainers) usually add a dependency to
that older report and close the report setting the "Status" field to
"Duplicate".
The way we usually did that is entering the older bug number in the
corresponding field (close to the bottom of the page) and search that report
in the newer report.
Then, we selected that report in the list of found items, change the values of
the fields "Status" and "Open/Close" and submit these changes (with the button
"Submit these changes and return to this item).
That used to work until a few weeks ago. But now, the report does *not*
update, instead the status banner (or whatever the overlay is called that is
appearing close to the top of the page) says:
> Success: You provided search words to get a list of items
> this one may depend on. Below, in the section Dependencies, you can now
> select the appropriate ones and submit the form.
I tried to mark bug #66585 as a duplicate of bug #41441 using the described
steps. But that didn't work.
It looks like this is not a local issue with the browser here because the same
issue occurred for another user for a different bug report. See:
https://octave.discourse.group/t/trouble-marking-bug-report-dependencies/6060
Is something wrong with the settings of Octave's bug tracker? Is this
something that could be fixed in Savane?
