Hi,
This is not a feature provided by ViewCVS indeed. Maybe it would worth
contributing it. If you ever need to make advanced search, though, you
will need to make a checkout, or grab the RCS files archvies (built
daily - savannah.gnu.org/cvs-backup/emacs-sources.tar.gz).
