Description:
Hatchet is a log parser and statistics interface for OpenBSD's PF logs.  It's 
written in Perl and currently utilizes SQLite for embedded, portable data 
storage.  The project is broken up into three primary modules: the parser 
script ("hatchet"), the storage facility (sqlite), and a CGI interface.  The 
parser utilizes a series of first-match Perl regex.  The interface provides 
users with a means to view logged events chronologically, reverse-chrono, and 
by sorting object columns (asc/desc).  It also includes an interface to view 
thoroughput graphs provided via pfstat.

Future versions are likely to be ported to work with MySQL to provide 
additional statistics reporting capabilities.  Although SQLite is very 
convenient, it lacks in vital features due to its typeless design.

Although very young, the Hatchet community has been very supportive.  Feature 
requests and bug reports continue to be forthcoming, and beta testers are 
available.  A project mailing list is already in full swing on the existing 
site, with 21 subscriptions.

The primary reason for wanting to host on savannah.nongnu.org is for the 
development facilities.  Some users have requested CVS downloads;  this is 
something I'm unable to provide with my current host.  Hatchet is released 
under the BSD license.
