Description:
It is a free software which goals are :
 - to do archiving process over a network (safely)
 - it is either :
   - installed on the source host and send archive to the backup host
     - or installed on a third host (or the backup host) and    
       connect to the souce host
 - it can cypher archive and sign them
 - it can process backup in 2 main ways :
   - by making copies of directories / data
   - by recording archives if there were changes in the source 
     location (i.e. a modified file) 
 - it can proceed to a rotation to keep the N most recent archives

Source types (to archive) : 
 - files and directory
 - databases
 - web site (ftp account)
 - ...

Dépendances logicielles:
It is based on Makefiles. 
All the programs called inside the Makefile code are Free Software :
gzip, gunzip, tar, ssh, scp, find, date, pax, lftp

Its user can use  cron (or any other scheduler you want) to schedule backup. 
the scheduler is not include in Makach.

Its user can use any scripting language to say exactly what to backup : bash, 
sh for example.
