Brian Jones <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: mbsd
Other License:
Package: OpenJalopy
System name: openjalopy
Type: non-GNU
Description:
Jalopy is a source code formatter for the Sun Java programming language. It
layouts any valid Java source code according to some widely configurable rules;
to meet a certain coding style without putting a formatting burden on
individual developers.
See http://jalopy.sf.net/, the original project hosted on SourceForge. Since
this project went commercial, open/free versions with fixes are not available.
Some of those that take part in the Classpath project have made some
improvements to the freely available Jalopy but we need a place to put these
and Savannah seems like the best place.
GNU's formatter, indent, does not format Java properly and likely never will.
Other Software Required:
So the point is to compile at least the basic formatter with gcj (gcc's java
compiler) and use this to properly and consistently format all of Classpath's
source to our GNU coding convention.
