A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
Ciaran Anscomb <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: other
Other License: This code is based on aewm which in turn is based on 9wm which
has its own licence. It should meet the criteria to be Free Software (as all
three packages have been accepted into the Debian OS). Ideally I would have
this under the GNU GPL, but point (1) in the original 9wm licence denies me
that ability. For this reason alone, I\'ve selected \"non-GNU\" - I would be
happy for it to be included as part of the GNU project if it were possible.

This is free software. You can do what you want to it, but if it
breaks something, you get to pay for the counselling. The code was
originally based on aewm, so this is distributed under the same terms,
which follow.
AEWM LICENCE

You are granted permission to copy, publish, distribute, and/or sell
copies of this program and any modified versions or derived works,
provided that this copyright and notice are not removed or altered.
Portions of the code were based on 9wm, which contains this license:
> 9wm is free software, and is Copyright (c) 1994 by David Hogan.
> Permission is granted to all sentient beings to use this software,
> to make copies of it, and to distribute those copies, provided
> that:
>
> (1) the copyright and licence notices are left intact
> (2) the recipients are aware that it is free software
> (3) any unapproved changes in functionality are either
> (i) only distributed as patches
> or (ii) distributed as a new program which is not called 9wm
> and whose documentation gives credit where it is due
> (4) the author is not held responsible for any defects
> or shortcomings in the software, or damages caused by it.

> There is no warranty for this software. Have a nice day.
Package: evilwm
System name: evilwm
Type: 2
Description:
My project is a minimalist window manager for the X Window System. It
dispenses with all window decorations bar a one pixel thick border. It
provides good keyboard control such that it is good for use on laptop
computers. It also provides \"virtual desktops\".
It is currently leading up to a version 1 release, which will happen when one
or two niggling bugs are sorted out that apparantly only manifest with some
rare GTK+ based software.
It already exists and you can download the latest distribution at
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/evilwm/evilwm_0.99.7.orig.tar.gz?download
Other Software Required:
The X Window System. Only Xlib (and in some implementations, Xext) are
required.
Other Comments:
I\'d like to host it here rather than at sourceforge.net due to hearing of
questionable practices by the owners of that site.
