A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
Marco Fioretti <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: run up2date Linux everywhe
System name: rule
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
Today users with old HW cannot use mainstream, up to
date GNU/Linux distributions, particularly Red Hat Linux (TM).
This happens because:
The current Red Hat installer needs more RAM than
the kernel itself
Current packages choices and dependencies make it
practically impossible for unexperienced users to
run server or basic desktop on old computers with
low RAM and very small hard disks. In such cases,
GNOME/KDE based desktop are not feasible
We want to fix the Red Hat installer and the package selection
dependencies of today\'s Red Hat so that it is easy to
install and run modern kernel, server (postfix, xinetd, iptables,....)
and current low resource applications (mutt, lynx, abiword...)
This is not another distro: is another install option of Red Hat
targeted to developing countries, as well as to sysadmins and
power users who don\'t want to buy new hardware nor be forced
to use old software for server and desktop use.
