[Savannah-dev] Design Architecture

Hi all,

I am planning to develop a software tool for data
analysis. But, having an electrical background, I am
relatively new to object-oriented software
development. 

I will really appreciate if somebody could suggest (or
point to a resource) what should be the starting point
for such object-oriented projects.
