I think you have misunderstood the scenario.  You are thinking of a
response from wikipedia.org, but the portal operates before
wikipedia.org even receives the request.  What wikipedia.org does
when it receives the request is not even part of the issue.

Thanks for trying to help, but I don't think it is useful to explain
how these portals work to those who don't already know.  You won't find
a solution based on my explanation alone, without personal experience.
