Hi,
thanks to everybody for the good feedback. Based on it, I've decided to
not take any immediate action (aka remove the command alltogether), but
rather merge it into an action plug-in as described in the RFE:

That's good. I do make use of the file_statistics data to detect
"zero-diff" increment files.
Prior to this survey, I had never tried running the
rdiff-backup-statistics command.
