Thanks for your reply. I've already reviewed that Wiki page though. Is
there something on there that you wanted to draw my attention to? If
it's the public key authentication section, I have to say that I'm not
at all keen to switch to it if passwords should work.
The last few words at the end of the following implies that it may not
though. Does anybody know this for certain either way?

Important! You have to answer 'yes' to accept the fingerprint of the
server. If this not is done rdiff-backup can't use plink.exe and won't
work nor give you the possibility to answer 'yes'.
