2) and 3) don't do much for me. 1) however, I agree with completely.
Ok - could we perhaps just "patch" the docs then? Or a FAQ entry.
I was quite surprised at how MUCH space was needed in /tmp. A warning to
that affect and a quicky reminder about $TMP would "FIX" this bug in my
mind.
The gzip error you asked about was just gzip being obtuse and me not
seeing what the real problem was - taking gzip out didn't fix anything,
but led to a more understandable error message.
