I've only found the limit of 235 chars per file name (or directory name) in the man page. (But the maximum I've found in my test are 34 appended chars. So it might be only 221 chars that work.)
That would be OK. The 2GB per file limit would also be OK, but we have the 2.3 version.
I would be interested in your initial backup stats
