Hi,
Did you try the travel command for #1? It's not exactly the same, but
close enough. Put this in your rc.conf:
map T console travel
(don't leave out the trailing space)
Then type T in ranger. Let me quote the man page on the travel command:
> travel pattern

> Filters the current directory for files containing the letters in the string,
> possibly with other letters in between. The filter is applied as you type.
> When only one directory is left, it is entered and the console is
