If I remember correctly, the groups are mandated by your system firmware
implementation and you can only pass-through whole groups or nothing. The
operating system doesn't have any way switch devices from one group to another
later on.
This is also why GPU passthrough might not work always work - if the grouping
your system firmware imposes includes other devices and these can't be
passed-through, you're out of luck.
This is how I always understood the situation. It might be wrong. I'd hope that
it is wrong for your sake.
