Turning an existing Aarch64 system into a VM

Greetings,

I have an ambitious task in mind but don't really know how to approach it yet, so I'd like to hear your opinion:

I have an Aarch64 embedded Target running a Yocto based system. The target features multiple storage devices with several partitions of which one is mounted as root with others mounted in other locations for other purposes.

My goal is to emulate this system with qemu on an X64 desktop. I made some tests with the current qemu version and a comparable Yocto which was successful. So what I want to do is to make a close as possible clone of the original system with an identical filesystem layout and store it into an image that qemu can launch with as little fixing as necessary.

Is there a tool or step-by-step guide that will help me with this task?

Thanks for your help!
