Direct IO is unavailable on your xfs fs, which can be tested with:
$ strace dd of=/raid6/virtual/foo.tmp oflag=direct
You'll see open() with O_DIRECT failed and returning EINVAL if I'm
right.
If so, xfs mailing list might be able to help.
databunka raid6 # strace dd of=/raid6/virtual/foo.tmp bs=1M count=100
