[Protux-support] development

hi Andrew,

It sounds like you're pritty pissed at me. Anyway.

First off, I never said he was wrong, just that we have not gotten
around to fixing problems yet. So yes, we have problems with the
recording engine, with the keys engine, the manuals, quick-help and
just about everything else in the program. Things don't work, and that
is normal considering that it is only 0.17. Thus, although bugs are an
issue, problems with the stuff already implemented will only become a
priorities when we get around to re-implementing them again. This could
take a while. Right now, the mixer engine is more important.

I did not say at any point in my email that I didn't like his
suggestions. Quite on the contrary, and as I have written before, we
have not gotten around to them yet. In my email I was simply trying to
point out practical solutions to his problem. he can't record because
he had not armed the track. There is a key to arm tracks that is not
documented in either the manuals, or in the quick-help. He can see
those if he wants in the file called "jmb.map", and regarding to the
<kk> problem - it works, just needs practice. But that doesn't doesn't
mean I don't agree that it could use some leeway.

As for the address for savannah, all you have to do is search for it on
google. But if you don't want to do that, there is also a link from
FSF's homepage. But just for the record of having it on the list's
history, its http://savannah.gnu.org/.

Lastly, please do bear in mind we do this in our free time, and work as
hard as we can to make Protux as good as we can. If you don't like the
way its turning, or want its development to go faster there are several
options available: file a bug, file a wish, or send code. (perhaps even
join the team!)

Otherwise, things will happen on their own time. I'm not making
excuses. Some things are NOT priorities at the moment. The code related
to key-sequences is not one of our priorities at the moment. If you
have questions about what the team's priorities are at this time, have
a look in the file called LUCIANO-COMUNICATION that can be found on the
CVS repository.

Anyway, I hope this email doesn't sound pissed. I'm not pissed. I swear!
(no pun intented).
Fabio.

PS: This by no means mean we are not concerned about people not
getting it to work. Firstly, protux-support is not exacly the forum to
be discussing design. This is usually done in protux-design. Secondly,
in protux-support we generally answer questions about how to make
things work. That's what I tried to do. However, when things are not
working, this is sort of hard, without explaining our everyday
source-code problem.
