I was testing, modifying thte MailScanner setup etc: Still the same. It looks 
like phpGroupware adds something like this:

Content-Type: text/plain;
        charset="iso-8859-1"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

This part won't show in the mail header but is the beginning of the body 
message.

No idea why, other webmail/imap/php aplications display just fine.
