the default is 4 minutes last i checked (240 seconds).

Look in email/inc/class.mail_msg_base.inc.php for "var $timestamp_age_limit" to 
set
the cache time in seconds, then look in inc/class.boindex.inc.php for
"$this->xi['auto_refresh_widget'] =" to set the page refresh time in 
milliseconds.
