[Phpgroupware-users] Installation problem?

Hi, 

I've tried phpgroupware before and liked it. Now I have the chance to
have it adopted for our organisation (and another that we share offices
with), however I am having problems getting it to run. 

I figure that I am missing something in the setup.

Steps:

1. Untar distro to /var/www/phpgroupware
2. Create database and user, grant permissions.
3. Fill in a few options to create header.inc.php (server root =
/var/www/phpgroupware, etc)
4. Login and install the applications
5. Edit the configuration
6. Create the admin user
7. Install the Admin application.
8. I then login as the admin user, and pick 'User Accounts', select my
admin user and click 'view', then 'Acl Rights'

I'm told that :

 Deny access to site configuration  
_ Deny access to user accounts  
 Deny access to groups  
 Deny access to peer servers  
 Deny access to applications  
 Deny access to global categories  
 Deny access to mainscreen message  
 Deny access to current sessions  
 Deny access to session log  
 Deny access to error log  
 Deny access to application registery  
 Deny access to phpinfo

If I select any of these I get an error like:

Database error: Invalid SQL: select * from phpgw_acl where (acl_account
in (, 0,1,2))

File: /var/www/phpgroupware/phpgwapi/inc/class.acl.inc.php
Line: 94

Session halted.


I have tried to install some applications, but have problems with
errors, being unable to save settings, assign rights, and other error
messages. I think the above problem is at the base of all the other
problems I have.

I'm guessing that I have a config option wrong, or need to edit some
other file that I am not aware of yet. 

I have searched the archives, and found people have had problems with
LDAP. I am not using LDAP. I am using mysql as the database. 


Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I can supply config files, etc if it would help.
