You can try using the Custom Email Setting in Email prefs.  And to make sure 
it's
not a IMAP config issue try a standard mail client that does IMAP too.

You didn't say what IMAP/POP3 server you are using.  In phpGW chose UWASH for
everything except for a Cyrus server.
