Details:

When (as admin user) I select Users choice option for:
"show new/updated tickets on main screen" The option does not save.

I have tracked the problem to the file:
/phpgroupware/tts/inc/hook_settings.php

Lines 14-18 create an array with two choices. (there are three choices in the
drop down box.) Only yes (yes=true) and no (no=null). but there is no setting
allowed for (user selection.)

I do not have a code recommendation as I have not looked how the code works
for the main screen preferences yet.
