The patch does include changes to the class.contacts_sql.inc.php that works
fine for me I have no knowledge of the LDAP-version
To apply the patch for testing one need the version-0_9_14-branch

Add:
When adding a new contact you get the choice of deciding the ID - or accepting
the automatic generation of a new ID -
Just like when adding a new project in the project application.
The reason for this is for smooth integration with an (any)acoountingsystem.
The ID should generally (I think) not be autonumber because of the difficulty
of maintaining the original IDs when one for some reason is importing data.
It might be an idea to include the user-id in the addressbook-id or introduce a
"num" - to avoid possible conflicts when users are adding their own contacts.
Preferences:
You can choose the id-field to be shown in address list - my users like this
feature - because the vendors are often referred to by their ID.
