Hi people,

I would like to propose you an idea in order to

simplify the use of phpgroupware for integration into

existing communities (basically, researchers for my

concern).

I don't know if it is really a feature request,

actually it may have save your team a lot of work

concerning email app if you would have did it. In my

lab, some sociologists worked on problems in real

communities when using tools such as groupwares. One of

the problems found was in the link between "groupware"

world and "usual" world. For instance, if the groupware

provides a new webmail interface, the user often have

to switch between its own previous mailer and the new

mail interface. Moreover, some mails are in one place

and others are in another place, forcing the user to

duplicate as needed.

Well, after having a deep look (maybe not deep enough,

you could answer) into phpgroupware (the 9.16rc1) it

seems that you made the same mistake than commercial

apps did before you, that is trying to put all the

useful tools into one big app.

Ok, now, if I already have a mozilla mail with a lot of

filters/folders/subfolders/adresses and so on, I

certainly don't want to use the email or felimimail app

of phpgroupware. I would only find useful to receive in

one of my mozilla folder all the messages sent to me

with the messenger app, and being able to send a mail

to a phpgroupware group through mozilla or messenger.

In other words, it could be nice to provide a field

"email address" in the user manager of phpgroupware,

that would be sent all the messages I receive in the

groupware. And to be able to configure email accounts

in the group manager so that a whole group could be

turned into a mailing list.

That's only a good thing because you could keep the

current configuration with anglemail/felamimail while

adding this possibility. And I am not sure it is to

much work.
