I have been using phpGW for a while now, I don't
remember what version I initially used, but I think
we started with a version about a year ago...we've
done the upgrades and are currently at 0.9.13.018.
I've looked at the database, which is currently a
mess, and am having tons of misc. odd problems
upgrading. Because there are so many old fields that
aren't used in the DB anymore, I would like to prune
the DB to only have the pertinent data in it.
Because of the constant changes to the DB, it would
be difficult to make a "repair/clean" utility that
would need to be updated for every new version,
however, if somesort of export of used data (only the
fields that that version uses) could be done, then
for the next upgrade, I would just export all data,
reinstall the version of groupware that exists as it
stands now, and then upgrade to the new version
without any issues. Our DB is a mess, and I really
don't even want to attempt to fix the issues we have
(way too much, and many probably intertwined with
other ones). When upgrading to the newest version,
other things break that worked before...so bottom
line is we either start from scratch (not an option),
or prune our DB to include only pertinant info.
