I think your suggested solution is a good one, unfortunately this is a matter 
for the debian package maintainers not us :(

I think the only config option would be to manually edit the #!/usr/bin/php to 
#!/usr/bin/php4

Summary:  php not found

Original Submission:  On debian, the php script exectultable is not php, its 
php4 or php3.  This causes problems with the Async time services.  Maybe a 
configurable option is possible.  The SIMPLE solution is a symbolic link (Which 
debian shouldve probably done anyway).
