Original Submission:  HAVE TRIED THE 0.9.14.001 VERSION OF PHPGROUPWARE AND 
COULD NOT MAKE LDAP WITH MD5 WORKING PROPERTY. 

TRIED DO CHANGE USER PASSWORD AND USING MD5 SET ON THE CONFIG ADMINISTRATION 
PAGE SEENS NOT SAVING THE RIGHT ENCRYPTED PASSWORD. BUT DES WORKS PERFECT FINE.

CORRECT ME IF I AM SAYING ANYTHING WRONG OR PLEASE ADVICE IF IS MY LDAP SERVER 
IS SETTING PROPER.

the problem was fixed using openssl 0.9.7betaXX. In the meantime openssl 0.9.7 
was released. I have it working here.

I had this problem too. It was a problem in the latest openssl version. openssl 
overwrites the crypt function with it own. After upgrading to the latest 
openssl-beta MD5 was working again.

Which php and openssl are you using?
