This is the first time I've tried phpgroupware, so I do not
have a previous version to compare against. It does seem
awfully slow though. I've tried xoops, postnuke, phpnuke,
and phprojekt and they are lightning fast compared to
phpgroupware.

I am using API version 0.9.14.001. The machine is a Celeron
466, 128 MB Ram, RH8.0, on a local network. The other
webapps aren't as slow so I doubt it is the machine. At
this point, I am assuming it is some install error that I
did.

This thing had everything I wanted, and more. The slowdown
just makes it barely useable though. Any help would be
appreciated.

A few questions:

what version of phpgw are you running?

what phpgw apps are you running?

what is the specs of the box you are running phpgw on?

what other services are active on the box

what other groupware apps are you comparing phpgw to?

This may help us identify the issue with your install.

Cheers
